Video: Get Swype and Type Faster

As CJ pointed out earlier this month, the Swype keyboard from the Verizon Omnia II had been extracted to work on devices with a WVGA screen. In this video, we give you a walkthrough of the Swype keyboard, which, in our tests, can decrease text entry time by about 20%, depending on how much practice you've gone through.

The keyboard requires you to keep your finger planted as you "point" to each letter. Those that like to tap with two thumbs probably won't like this keyboard, but after a bit of practice, it becomes very easy to use. Another great feature is that is automatically enters a space after each word, so you don't have to constantly peck at the space bar.

To get it, head on over to XDA and download the CAB, then run it on your device. It seems that Swype will work on any WVGA device like the HD2, Touch Pro2, and Diamond2.
