We’ve seen quite a bit of RIM’s BlackBerry Touch 9860, aka Monza, in the past few weeks, sadly on YouTube clips that keep getting pulled offline. We suppose we can’t blame RIM for wanting to keep a secret (luckily, there are still plenty of clips available), but there’s nothing it can do to quell every source of rumors, and now there’s a new one aimed squarely at the Monza. According to a TmoNews source, the Touch 9860 will launch with T-Mobile in early summer, on June 29.
Earlier accounts had the Touch 9860 pegged for a release sometime in June or July, so this tipster’s information seems plausible, at the least. BlackBerry World is coming up next week, but we’ve heard separate rumors that the Touch may not be presented at the event; it’s possible the Bold Touch will be the only model debuting. This isn’t to say that would preclude the 9860 from a release so soon after BBW, but it’s something that will be on our mind if we really don’t see anything of the Monza.
From the videos we’ve seen, the Touch 9860 has been quite spry, navigating through the revamped BlackBerry OS 6.1 with ease. We hope the rumors about the phone’s no-show at BBW don’t pan out, as it’d be a shame to have another two months to wait without hearing more news about the 9860 and its capabilities.
