Canadian carrier Rogers has confirmed that the BlackBerry Torch 9800 will be sold beginning on September 24th, starting at $200 on contract. Rogers will be the second North American service provider to offer the unique vertical touchscreen slider, following its release last month on AT&T.
The Torch has received mixed reviews so far (we gave it a 2/5), mostly due to a relatively low-resolution screen (for a device in its price range, anyway), lack of SurePress screen technology, and overall lukewarm reception to its operating system, RIM’s brand new BlackBerry OS 6. Certain features, however, like the five-megapixel camera, generous 4GB of internal storage (plus 512MB of RAM), and revamped web browser from its appropriately-named acquisition, Torch Mobile, should nonetheless make it an attractive option.
