It’s been a promising time to be a gamer on the BlackBerry PlayBook as of late, with plenty of news coming out about new releases of high-profile titles. First we saw Angry Birds Space come to the platform, and then heard about another eagerly-anticipated game that would soon be coming to the PlayBook. Speculation at the time seemed to point to the release of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, and sure enough, the iOS title now has a PlayBook port. The flow of information on new games isn’t about to dry up just yet, and today RIM announced a bunch of additional games in the pipeline for its tablet.
Once again, Anders Jeppsson, RIM’s Head of Gaming, turns to Twitter to break the news of these upcoming PlayBook games. Halfbrick studios should have five of its titles coming to the PlayBook, with the über-popular Jetpack Joyride among them. GlitchSoft is readying its Star Marine for BlackBerry, and Fishlabs Entertainment will bring Galaxy on Fire 2 to the table. Finally, Sonic the Hedgehog will be speeding onto the platform this May, with Sega releasing Sonic 4: Episode 1.
Many of these games have also been confirmed for BlackBerry 10 in addition to the PlayBook, and we’ll see those versions released once the first BB10 gear actually launches.
