When RIM first launched BBM Music last fall, it attempted to win users to the service over by offering a free trial of a premium account. If you missed out on it then, and have been wondering if the admittedly unusual music service was worth your money, the chance to test the waters for free is returning, offering an even longer trial period for some users.
If you’re in the US, and you haven’t yet subscribed to BBM Music, you’ll be eligible for a free four-month trial. The offer is even more attractive in the UK, where not only to new users get six months of free service, but the monthly fee (after exchange rate conversion) is more like $8 than the $5 in the US, saving you more money.
In order to get the most out of BBM Music, unlike other services like Spotify, you’re going to have to make conscious effort to recruit a group of friends with compatible musical tastes. As you add more BBM contacts as friends in BBM Music, you gain access to their tracks, as well as the selection you have direct control over. As a result, it’s not for everyone, but that’s why there’s a free trial, right?
