If you’re going to spend far too much on a smartphone on eBay, you could go with a collectible edition, like the prototype iPhone 4 we just looked at, or you could splurge on an unreleasesd model, hoping to make all your friends jealous as they wait out days until the phone’s official release. If you find yourself leaning towards the latter category, you may want to check out an auction currently taking place for a RIM BlackBerry Bold 9900, brand new and apparently a final retail edition.
The auction is taking place on the UK eBay site, where the 9900 is currently available with a buy-it-now price of around $1450. While there haven’t been any bites yet at that figure, 10 lower offers have been made; so far nothing there’s worked out either. The Bold looks largely complete, with its cables and accessories still sealed-up, and the phone still bearing its protective plastic adornment. Admittedly, it’s a whole lot more useful and affordable than the prototype iPhone, but it still may be just too expensive. We’re guessign the seller strings things on for a while longer before accepting one of those private offers and selling the phone.
Also on the 9900 front, we recently heard that, shortly after the Bold arrives, a white option will also be available. Now we have our first glimpse at what that might look like, thanks to a case retailer. What makes for the sharpest-looking 9900; black or white?
