RIM’s got seven new BlackBerry smartphones on the way, and we’ve already started to see signs of them show up with FCC certification paperwork, like with the Bold 9900. The latest to have that honor looks like it could be the Torch 2, sporting bands for AT&T operation.
The 9900 we saw earlier this week is model RDU71CW. Today, FCC paperwork has arrived for the RDM71UW, but how can we tell what BlackBerry it is? One big hint comes from the documents that show the placement of the smartphone’s FCC label. While we only get to see a technical sketch of the phone from the rear, we can make out what looks like some of the hardware needed for this model to be a vertical slider, as we know the Torch 2 is.
It also helps that we’re expecting the Torch 2 for AT&T, and all the needed cellular radios are in place here; the FCC docs show the standard 850 and 1900MHz GSM, as well as WCDMA operation over that same frequency range.
