The cross-platform instant messaging software Kik had a pretty good year in 2011, arriving with ports to bring the app to users of Windows Phone and later Symbian handsets. Things haven’t been all rosy for the company, though, with a late-2010 falling-out with RIM leaving BlackBerry users in the dark for some time. In October of last year, Kik Messenger finally became available to them again, by means of a direct download from the company. This week there’s a new version of the app out, claiming marked performance and power consumption improvements.
Kik Messenger version 5.2.3 brings those enhancements to the app’s BlackBerry user base, though the company has not yet revealed just what changes it’s made under-the-hood that are supposed to be responsible for such “dramatic” improvements. After all, Kik has always referred to itself as “crazy fast”, so we’re understandably a little curious about just how you make fast that much faster. At the end of the day, though, we’ll be happy just to see Kik deliver on this update’s claims.
In order to get the latest version of Kik Messenger, visit m.kik.com from your BlackBerry’s browser, or update from within the app via its settings menu.
