RIM has finally finished beta testing version 2.0 (actually, 2.0.0.1749) of its BlackBerry Traffic app, moving it out of the Beta Zone and into App World proper.
One of the most notable changes for Traffic 2.0 is a redesigned user interface, blending in more appropriately with BlackBerry OS 6.0 and featuring a new assortment of icons. When you’re out driving, there’s a new view that tries to avoid overloading you with data, just showing the next turn you need to be concerned with in a large, clear font.
Of course, not everything is just eye candy, with several new route-planning features, as well. From the get-go, Traffic will now offer you a choice between two route options, letting you quickly choose the one you’re more comfortable with. When planning a route in advance, the app will now let you see traffic estimations for future times, so you can plan accordingly in order to avoid congestion.
Minor changes include new keyboard shortcuts, and a drop-down search history. The free app is available now in the BlackBerry App World.
