BlackBerry Torch 10000 Tipped by Insurer Asurion

Research in Motion is preparing to break out of the four-digit model number mold with the BlackBerry Torch 10000, at least according to a help site maintained by handset-insurer Asurion. Asurion, whose relationships with all of the major carriers certainly give it inside access to their phone roadmaps, lists the Torch 10000 among existing or past devices available from AT&T in an advanced search dropdown menu. Unfortunately there are no search results when the 10000 is selected as a filter.

Now that RIM has forked the Torch family into full touchscreen and QWERTY-slider form factors, it’s not at all clear what body style the 10000 might adopt. With such an iconic model number, however, we suspect a flagship device of the BlackBerry London variety — a QNX-powered full-touch slate first leaked by The Verge, and said to offer a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, eight-megapixel camera, and a thickness to rival the iPhone’s. If a followup report by BGR is accurate, London won’t launch until the third quarter of next year.

P.S. The same advanced search filter has an entry for the iPhone 5, too.
