After finally getting a chance to see BlackBerry 10 in action, as we did yesterday, the other big software news we’ve been looking forward to from RIM was the arrival of PlayBook OS 2.0. As a QNX-based platform, it’s very much tied to the company’s work on BlackBerry 10, making us even more interested to see what’s released. The last we heard, February 17 was being floated as a potential release date for the update. A new rumor seeks to amend that estimation a bit, now focusing on a release just a few days later.
N4BB reports hearing from a number of its sources within the BlackBerry community that RIM is now planning to drop PlayBook OS 2.0 on February 21; an extra four days sounds like a delay we can live with. Despite this little bit of extra time RIM might be readying for itself, the rumors claim that the release still won’t be entirely complete, missing much-anticipated BBM support won’t make the cut. Presumably, we’ll see RIM release it separately in the near future.
