Owners of three BlackBerry models — the Bold 9000, Pearl 3G 9100/9105, and Curve 8530 — now have new versions of the BlackBerry OS available for download to their devices, although only the Bold update is an official carrier rollout (from AT&T and Rogers).
Both carriers have released OS version 18.104.22.1682 for their 9000s, also known as the original Bold; its successor, the 9700, is the current Bold being sold by most outlets worldwide. The Pearl and Curve updates, on the other hand, are decidedly unofficial, leaked ROMs, meaning that flashing them is of course riskier than waiting for a carrier-sanctioned rollout.
Notably, none of the upgrades bump these devices up to BlackBerry’s latest and greatest, OS 6. Currently, RIM’s only model to support the newest operating system is the Torch 9800, a Storm-like slate gifted with the addition of a vertically-sliding QWERTY keyboard.
