After seeing it jump around a little bit, it’s started to seem more and more likely in recent days that RIM would be releasing version 2.0 of the PlayBook’s system software tomorrow, February 21. One thing that’s been following all these rumors of potential release dates has been the claim that we’d also be seeing RIM release an updated version of its BlackBerry Bridge software to coincide with PlayBook OS 2.0 availability. Sure enough, that new Bridge has landed, making tomorrow’s release rumor seem all the more likely.

BlackBerry Bridge 2.0.0.25 takes advantage of new capabilities built-in to PlayBook OS 2.0 to let you remotely control the tablet through your wirelessly tethered smartphone. That sounds especially nice if you’re still not used to a virtual on-screen keyboard, as you’ll be able to enter text on your PlayBook through your phone’s hardware keyboard. Besides the remote control functionality, this release includes a number of stability-related bugfixes, improved copy and paste support, and various user experience tweaks.

Look for the new Bridge in the App World now, and PlayBook OS 2.0 just over the horizon.
