We once heard rumors of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 coming to T-Mobile in mid-August, only to have that estimation revised for sometime in September instead. It’s not too far off from a September launch at all, but according to the very latest rumor, T-Mobile could see the 9900 come its way on August 31.
The Bold 9900 will be the first BlackBerry model to support T-Mobile’s 4G-ish HSPA+ network. The smartphone will mark the arrival of new higher-end RIM hardware, including a nice jump up to a 1.2GHz processor, and seeing system RAM expanded to 768MB.
Sadly, the image this information is sourced from is only a cropped portion of a larger T-Mobile document for the Bold 9900, but it does give us the all-important launch date. While it doesn’t specify the 9900’s launch price, we can see that there will be a $50 mail-in-rebate for activating the phone with a qualifying data plan.
RIM’s been taking a beating in the press lately. Will these new models like the Bold 9900 and the Torch 9850 we looked at earlier today, along with the updated BBOS 7, be enough to revive interest in the line? Are there enough die-hard BlackBerry users that the platform will just keep on truckin’, regardless of growing Android and WP7 market shares?
