If you’re not interested in paying a premium price to get your hands on a BlackBerry Bold 9900 well in advance of anyone else, fret not, for there’s more than one way to drop some cash on the upcoming RIM powerhouse. Amazon’s UK site has opened pre-orders for the 9900, with the understanding that the smartphone should be released on September 15.
That launch date jives with some of what we heard earlier, that T-Mobile in the States was now looking at a September launch after plans for an August release seemed untenable. In the UK, though, Amazon has the phone going for the equivalent of about $885, making that pre-order a pretty serious commitment. Heck, that eBay auction for a 9900 ended early for $900, actually making it seem pretty reasonable compared to the wait you’d have in store by placing a pre-order today. Of course, like with the Pre 3 pre-orders we just looked at, you’re only looking at a fraction of that sticker price once subsidies, rebates, and any instant-savings kick in. The white 9900 should take a little longer to arrive, expected sometime in October.
