Well, I guess the only sad news today is that we’ve managed to pull release dates for the BlackBerry Bold on all the major US carriers, except T-Mobile. As it stands, internal documents still show the device Coming Soon, but remember we’ve already gotten some credible information that points to a “Very late in August” release, meaning August 31st.
Probably the either interesting, or weird part of this report is having the documentation mention that the device won’t include Wi-Fi calling support through UMA or their Wi-Fi Hotspots at launch. Not sure as to why this will not be offered, or how long they’ll take in pushing it to devices, but if you rely on this service as much as I know many people do, you better think twice about an immediate upgrade to the device. We could assume the limitation has to do with the launch of the BlackBerry 7 OS on this device, but there’s no official confirmation on that just yet.
There’s no doubt that the Bold 9900 will be the best BlackBerry on the T-Mobile network once launched. With all the 4G and NFC love many of us are expecting, I know many will much rather wait for Wi-Fi calling to be supported, than to miss out a day without it on launch day. We’ll keep you updated on how this whole problem unfolds.
