BlackBerry Bold 9900, 9930 Theme Offers the Porsche Design Look

After the phone was formally unveiled in October, we finally learned some additional launch details for the Porsche Design P’9981 BlackBerry just last week. We knew it would be expensive, but were nevertheless taken aback by the jaw-dropping nearly-$2000 price tag. Whatever feelings we might have had about the interesting design departures from traditional BlackBerry models just took a back seat to the reality of the handset’s luxury pricetag. For those of you without a trust fund dedicated to your smartphone purchases, there’s now at least one way you can get a piece of the Porsche Design P’9981, with the phone’s custom theme and icon pack now extracted for use on much cheaper hardware.

You’re still limited insofar as how you can enjoy this release, as you’ll need either a Bold 9900 or its CDMA cousin, the 9930 (both models share the same basic hardware as the P’9981). The theme also only supports BlackBerry OS 7.0, so it won’t work with the 7.1 update that many Bolds have already received. That’s unfortunate, and means this release probably won’t be more than a curiosity for most users, but if you ever wanted to know what it felt like to use a $2000 smartphone, here’s your chance. The files you’ll need are available through the source link below.
