RIM’s next version of the BlackBerry Bold, the Bold 9780, may begin selling at T-Mobile starting on November 17th, according to an image posted by TmoNews. Very similar in appearance to the Bold 9700 — save for a new black bezel — the unannounced Bold 9780 supposedly offers mostly internal upgrades, most significant being the OS 6 operating system and 512MB of RAM required for it to run smoothly. The other major spec bump to this 624MHz, HVGA device comes to its camera sensor, which has been swapped out with a five-megapixel number.
While it’s not clear what the subsidized price will be for this handset on T-Mobile, we have seen evidence that its unsubsidized price may be $500 when it hits Bell Canada; the above slide suggests a dealer cost of $400, though no retail price. Currently T-Mobile sells the Bold 9700 for $130 with two-year contract, after rebates, so we wouldn’t expect this fairly minor upgrade to fetch more than $150 at release.
