We all know that 2012 is going to be the year that QNX-based BBX – or, rather, BlackBerry 10 becomes RIM’s primary smartphone platform. We’ve gotten a look at a couple pieces of hardware that may end up arriving as first-wave BlackBerry 10 devices, the full-touchscreen London and the portrait QWERTY slider Milan. Just when might we hope to finally have the chance to pick up these, or other BB10 models like them, in stores? Today one of the company’s CEOs revealed part of the platform’s launch plans, stating that BlackBerry 10 devices won’t be coming out until “the latter part of 2012″.

We’re clearly looking at sometime in the second half of the year here, and while that wording has us thinking it might not be until Q4 that BlackBerry 10 hardware arrives, there’s nothing that says RIM might not get it released in Q3. Of course, we’re still in the dark as to how many devices we’re really talking about, as well as regarding specifics of BB10 itself. While we might have been hoping to get some early answers, it looks like we’re in for a long wait here. Hopefully, RIM will have some goodies to show off at the CES next month to help tide us over.
