Last week we heard that Argentina reportedly imposed a sales ban for Apple’s iPhone and Research in Motion’s BlackBerry devices (even more, a sales ban on all foreign-made smartphones). The measure was allegedly meant to stabilize the economy of the country but the story might have been a hoax.
According to recent reports, the bit referring to extra taxes on imported electronics imposed as well as cancellation of the automatic import status for manufacturers that don’t have factories in the country are true. The part related to the sales ban is allegedly not true, according to an Electronista report based on feedback received from its readers.
