As more and more mobile phones offer Bluetooth functionality, Bluetooth-enabled wireless headsets have become increasingly common. Logitech joins the pack with its Mobile Freedom Headset, a relatively inexpensive offering aimed at consumers looking for a stylish headset and a light price tag.WHAT’S HOT
This headset stands apart from other as it is based on the Bluetooth v1.2 compliance standard. As a result, it is much more likely to [...]
As I mentioned in the introduction, up until now each iPAQ model shipped has had more or less one unique strength. Lately, it has been a rarity to see the sort of engineering that went into the iPAQ h4155, which was a marvel in its day for combining both small size and terrific wireless connectivity options. With the [...]
To all our American readers out there, have a safe and filling Thanksgiving!
Be sure to use your Pocket PC to schedule as many helpings of food as possible, and don’t forget to add recurrences for the leftovers!
Dell entered the Pocket PC market with a decent product that had a good price and good expandability, with the Axim X5. Later, they released a completely new design with an emphasis on design, functionality, and value with their Axim X3. Taking another step ahead, Dell’s Axim X30 added unprecedented performance to the line’s [...]
Lately I’ve been reviewing quite a few Pocket PCs, and I came to a realization that was probably long overdue. There is ALWAYS something I want more on these devices. I have not gotten to the point yet where I’m ready to own one and only one Pocket PC or Smartphone device.
Allow me to elaborate…
When there was the big switch to Pocket PCs, the new iPAQ (then the 3600 series) were praised for its expandability (through the expansion sleeve system), its StrongArm processor which ran at an incredible 206 MHz, and USB sync interface (even though it still ran [...]
Please note: since the Dell Axim X30 is an improvement on its predecessor, the Axim X3i, we are only concentrating on what has changed or improved in this new model. To read more about the general features, please check out our review: Dell Axim X3i Pocket PC.WHAT’S HOT
The X30’s greatest attraction, along with its 624 MHz processor and 64MB RAM and ROM, is its integrated 802.11b wireless, Bluetooth, and included Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition operating system. Without these features, you basically have a Dell [...]
The hx4700 has an absolutely stunning 4" Transflective VGA screen. That means that all of the menus, programs, and dialog boxes on the device are shown in brilliant 640 x 480 pixels instead of the usual 320 x 240 that Windows Mobile Pocket PCs had from the very start. Equipped with an Intel PXA270 processor running at 624 MHz and an available 135 MB of storage available to the user, this device is no underdog. As if that weren’t enough, the Bluetooth [...]
It seems that the HP iPAQ h6315 has the same pin pattern on the bottom as all the original iPAQs, including the 3800, 3900, 5400, and 5500 series. That being the case, I thought I could get fancy and plug it right on to my old Compaq iPAQ Foldable Keyboard.
Immediately I heard the same connection sound heard when connecting the included thumb keyboard, and I was off and running. Not only did it fit perfectly, but it didn’t even need to have any different drivers installed. The thumb keyboard’s drivers must be based on the same standard.
All of the hotkeys [...]
The rx3715 is the first Pocket PC released on the market with a 1.2 megapixel digital camera capable of taking photos at 1280 x 960 resolution. Coupled with a 4x digital zoom, the unit can take decent quality entry-level digital photos. The device is also billed to have a massive amount of storage, made possible by a 90 MB iPAQ File Store. Combined, there is 152 MB of storage available to the user out of the box. Coupled with the built-in WiFi (802.11b) and Bluetooth wireless connectivity, this product has the serious [...]

This Pocket PC is a completely fresh design. In a continual effort by HP to break away from the sleeve based design in the 3000 and 5000 series iPAQs, HP has decided to integrate as much functionality as possible right out of the box. Some of the features are menial, like the built-in VGA camera, while others are extremely worthwhile like the included snap-on thumb keyboard. With the industry standard SDIO slot, it shouldn’t even hold back the power users among us.
Size has become more and more crucial as of late in the mobile [...]
This Pocket PC incorporates a completely new design. Gone are the rounded corners that Compaq and later HP was becoming known for with their iPAQ line, the corners of this device are square and cut. The iPAQ rz1715 has absolutely zero surprises under the hood like built-in wireless or a super fast processor, just a great looking display.
Size has become more and more crucial as of late in the mobile device market. Note how rz1715 is actually larger than its low cost predecessor; the iPAQ [...]
Between added support for landscape and higher resolution screens, it seems that many longtime Pocket PC enthusiasts are finally having their prayers answered. Little niceties have been added as well, included a better looking icon set and further refinements to the Connections control applet.OVERALL USER INTERFACE CHANGES
In my travels across the internet, only a few sites took the time to cover pictorially the changes [...]
Buy.com has the SanDisk 256mb Secure Digital memory card for $52 minus a $15 rebate (which expires 4/30) bringing the price down to $37 with free shipping. This is probably the best price I’ve seen on this card yet.
HP is offering customers a cash-back offer of $50 or more toward the purchase of a new HP iPAQ h1940 or h2210 series Pocket PC when they trade in an old personal digital assistant through July 10, 2004.

Ok, so we got you. Every post thus far today has been simply an April Fool’s Day prank. I’m sure most of you would have assumed. So keep visiting the site, because we’re certainly in no danger of going Palm.
We’ve marked every April Fool’s joke post as such so you’ll be able to distinguish fact from fiction.
And as for my Zire, it’s in the trash and my i-mate is back in my pocket.
I’ve been a writer in the mobile computing industry for the last 6 years, and I’ve never looked back. That is, I’ve never looked back until now. On this day of introspection, I’ve come to realize a few things about myself and the intelligence I keep daily in my pocket:
My i-mate Pocket PC Phone Edition has:
-Stereo sound I never use-A color screen that drains my battery-GPRS connectivity built-in that I have to pay for-SDIO expansion is pointless if I don’t even use it-Bluetooth connectivity that’s impossible to set up-128 MB [...]

Builder.com has really a fascinating article detailing how to maintain web site information and databases on a Pocket PC.
The article provides step-by-step instructions on how to administer a SQL server-driven site from a Windows Mobile device.
Definitely worth a read.
