The Device Emulator provides a viewer that allows you to run the Windows CE .NET OS on your desktop computer without specialized hardware. The Device Emulator makes it possible to download and view a Windows CE .NET-based device without acquiring additional hardware.
There are two project kits available. One is a generic HPC type machine. The other is a generic Pocket PC type machine.

Nokia announced on March 14th that they have signed an agreement transfering its Bluetooth CompactFlash business to Socket and recommending the Socket Bluetooth card for connecting Windows powered handheld computers and notebooks to Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones for high-speed wireless access to email, the Internet and corporate network resources.

Sales of software for handheld computers tripled in 2001, going from 225,000 in 2000, to 900,000 in 2001, according to an NPD Intellect report. RealNetworks is expected to debut a version of its RealOne media playernext week at the CTIA show in Orlando, Florida.
The RealOne Player for Pocket PCs performs nearly identical functions to the Windows Media Player which comes bundled with almost all Pocket PCs. The difference is that the RealOne Player will enable Pocket PC owners to receive content streamed from RealNetworks’ content partners. Compaq Computer announced a cooperative agreement with Lucent Technologies to prepare both the EVO notebook line and the iPAQ Pocket PC line for next generation phone networking.
Compaq is also making sure that their portables remain compatible, whichever of the two competing wireless standards happen to be used. At long last an updated version of the WISBar has been released. This new version address a few of the issues that Pocket PC 2002 users were having.
Here is a quick list of some of the modifications made:
– Updated all icons and looks to match PPC 2002.
– Changed the behavior of the close button to do what 2002 does and smartminize instead of closing (Optional).
– If smartminize is ON then you may close the application by holding down the close button for half a sec to close the app or use the task switcher to close it.
