Jeff postulates that Microsoft may intentionally be keeping from adding features to Pocket Office to continue to drive people to use the desktop versions to add tables, proper pagination, and even print. It’s speculation, but [...]

Netrunner is a way to access remote files through shared folders, without using any third party software. Essentially, this application “exposes” the hidden NETWORK folder on your Pocket PC (2002) to allow you to access a remote networked resource as if it were a storage card. Unlike the networking built into Pocket PC 2002, you don’t have to transfer a file to your hand-held in order to use it.
Version 2.0 is not a major upgrade. It sports a new user interface (and a new “cooler” icon). The most important new [...]
Compaq CEO Michael Capellas said in a conference call that shareholders appeared to have voted 9-to-1 in favor of the merger of Compaq and HP. He is already looking forward to when the “heavy lifting” of putting the two companies together will begin. Once the deal is closed, the combined company will reveal its product plans to the world, explain the new corporate structure and assign sales and technical contacts to customers, and reveal, at least internally, financial targets.
The result comes a day after HP shareholders voted on the merger. [...]

Think of a hotly contended vote, with equally leveled allegations of disaster if the other side wins and a potentially equally hotly contended result. No, it’s not the Presidential election of 2000, it’s the vote to decide whether Compaq and HP will merge.
About an hour after polling closed at a shareholder meeting here, HP issued a statement saying that “based on a preliminary estimate of shareowner proxies by its proxy solicitor, it believes it has received sufficient votes to approve HP’s merger with Compaq Computer [...]
