The idea of the smartphone industry getting in bed with the fashion community is certainly one that takes a little while getting used to, but once you accept the odd pairing, you’ll start to notice that handsets like LG’s Jil Sander phone and its new Prada Phone 3.0 are legitimately really-nice-looking phones. Then again, that’s really a best-case scenario, and we’re only reminded of how much those models succeed when we see a peer fail. Just such a lesson in what NOT to do when releasing one of these handsets comes to us courtesy of Fashion TV and ZTE.
The FTV Phone, as it’s called, is based on ZTE Blade hardware. Ultimately, it will come down to personal taste, but we may not be going out on too much of a limb here by suggesting that even the old, plain Blade is more attractive than the FTV Phone, with its overuse of the FTV logo and unappealing faux gold coloring.
Looks aside, those LG phones we mentioned are still decently-powered smartphones. That’s not the case with the FTV Phone, as reliance on the old Blade design means a 600MHz processor, 512MB of RAM, a 3.2-megapixel camera, and an aging Froyo install. Pricing and release information are still unknown.
