AT&T has a small press event this afternoon, and the company’s online press room has already posted images of the devices which presumably will be announced: the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and HP TouchPad. We’ve known for some time that Play would be hitting AT&T as the R800at (not in blue, though!), but the appearance of the TouchPad is somewhat of a surprise.

Currently Verizon is the only US carrier to offer the Play, which is a gaming-oriented handset that has been dubbed the PlayStation Phone. While Play doesn’t seem to have been the overwhelming success that Sony Ericsson might have hoped, it has certainly served to shine a spotlight on Android gaming — an area which certainly appears to have a bright future.
