Following a leaked commercial for the Xperia Play showing the Android mascot undergoing surgery to add stitched-on thumbs, Sony Ericsson has uploaded another advertisement. This one is titled “The Donor” which explains how the Android robot got its thumbs.
The series of commercials are a play on the new PlayStation-style gaming controls featured on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. The advertisements are set in a very gritty backdrop and seem as though they would “creep out” the target audience (kids/young adults)
The phone is the first “PlayStation certified” device, and will be powered by a 1GHz Scorpion ARM7 processor and Adreno 205 GPU, with 8GB of storage, upgradable to 32GB. It includes a four-inch FWVGA screen and a five-megapixel rear facing camera. The device is expected to debut with Android Gingerbread 2.3 on Verizon, with a wider release to follow.
