XFINITY, the service provider formerly known as “Comcast”, recently released a pretty awesome looking app for the iPad. Not far behind was a similar — though not quite as awesome — app for Android.
First and foremost this app gives you access not only to your XFINITY email, but also to your voicemail and incoming/outgoing call log. You can also set your home phone to forward to whatever phone you’d like, right from the app. This functionality sounds like they borrowed a lot from Google Voice.
Next up is the guide of what’s showing in your are for the next two weeks, filterable by various categories. You can even set a program to record to your home DVR (if applicable).
The on-demand feature isn’t what it sounds like, unfortunately. At least not yet. Currently you can watch clips and trailers on demand, not actual shows or movies. Not only that, you can’t stream live TV or content that you’ve recorded to your DVR to your phone. Hopeful those won’t be too long in coming.
Also included is a homescreen widget that gives you quick access to your email as well as your voicemail inbox.
The XFINITY Mobile app is available free in the Android Market, however certain features will vary based on what your XFINITY account’s access.
