There just must be something about Ice Cream Sandwich and white smartphones this morning; after we brought you news earlier of HTC’s plans for the “Ice White” Sensation, arriving in stores with Android 4.0 pre-installed at the start of March, the image of the mysterious Samsung handset shown above surfaced. Its source is none other than Eldar Murtazin, who is back at it with his leaks and predictions. According to Eldar’s teases, that lily-white Samsung handset will supposedly be featured at the Mobile World Congress, getting started at the end of the month.
We’re hardly at a loss for upcoming Samsung Androids, but just which one might be pictured here? Samsung is pretty darn adamant about the Galaxy S III not making an appearance at the MWC, so we can forget about that. We recently heard rumors about a Galaxy S II Plus and a Galaxy Note S. It’s pretty clear we’re not looking at the new Note, but what about a GS2+? The benchmarks we’ve seen for the phone report that it’s running Gingerbread; we suppose it’s possible that the phone could get ICS, as seen in this image, in time for MWC, but it might be a stretch. For now, we’ll just have to keep guessing.
Update: As our own Anton D. Nagy raised the alarm below, there are some pretty hard-to-ignore artifacts in this image that point to it being assembled from other sources, including existing press renders of the Galaxy S II. At the least, they raise questions about where Eldar might have found this picture.
