All you Windows Mobile users may want to skip over this.
Android has a pretty well thought out alarm system. Fire up your Clock app, tap the alarm button, and you can add alarms to your heart’s content. (Has anyone out there hit a limit? Comment below!) Not only that, when you set your alarm it will tell you when the next scheduled occurrence will happen in a “how long from now” format: “This alarm is set for 1 day, 15 hours, and 44 minutes from now”.
You’ve got several pre-configured ringtones that you can use, and here’s what may make you WinMo guys cry: it works. Reliably. All the time. Every time.
I know, you’re probably not going to trade in your WinMo phones for Androids just because the alarms work, but if a newly announced app does what it says it will, you may be a little tempted.
The app’s name is WakeVoice, it’s not yet available in the market, but when it does (within “the next day or so”), it may just revolutionize the way you look at your alarm.
Using Android’s speech synthesis (TTS) engine, your alarm clock can actually talk to you. It can announce customize message, the weather forecast, and even the latest news. Okay, you’ve got to admit, that’s just cool!
But it gets better… Android also supports voice recognition, and WakeVoice takes advantage of that. If you want your alarm to shut up, just say “STOP” — no word yet on whether a mumbled “just five more minutes, Mom” will work to snooze it or not.
The app is expected to come in two varieties, a “lite” version, which should be free, and a “full” or “deluxe” version (pricing has not yet been announced).
I hope the developer includes the ability to read from your RSS feeds… My days of sleeping in may just be numbered.
