All signs point to the HTC Droid Incredible 2 coming to Verizon in the very near future, despite not a peep confirming the phone coming out of Verizon. Pics of the phone bearing Verizon’s logo have been available for weeks, and we’ve seen the phone in both Best Buy’s computer system and in supposed leaked Verizon release schedules. It may nearly be time for big red to make its relationship with the Incredible 2 official, as a Verizon insider has snapped some new pics of Incredible 2 merchandising materials arriving now in stores, suggesting that the smartphone is nearly ready to launch.
The most recent leaked schedule of Verizon devices has identified next Thursday, April 21, as when the Incredible 2 will finally go up for sale. Earlier, another Verizon roadmap showed it waiting until the 28th, but the smartphone may be ready to go sooner than initially planned. These merchandising materials arriving are part of what stores will need to prepare for the phone’s launch, but the insider who posted them claims that employees haven’t received their training for the phone yet. That would suggest there’s at least a week remaining until sales will begin, which fits just about right with the predicted April 21 date.
The included promotional materials play up the Incredible 2′s status as a global phone, able to operate on worldwide GSM networks in addition to Verizon’s CDMA system. There’s also prominent mention of the phone’s front-facing camera and potential for video calls; perhaps when Skype with video for the Thunderbolt finally goes official, it will support additional Verizon smartphones, as well.
