The Samsung Galaxy S II is an impressive device. The Verizon version promises to be equally as impressive as the versions announced by other carriers. What’s even more impressive is that, according to their Twitter feed, the Verizon edition of the smartphone will be super-fast, featuring 4G LTE!
“Great news! The Samsung Galaxy SII will have 4G. ^LM”
Or will it?
It turns out the answer is a resounding “we don’t know”. Not long after the “it will have 4G” tweet, Verizon recanted their statement. When asked if Verizon would verify the smartphone would have 4G, and they weren’t confusing it with their new tablet, the reply wasn’t good:
“My apologies….The Galaxy Tablet will be a 4G device. ^TH”
Although that technically doesn’t mean that the smartphone won’t have LTE, Verizon is simply responding to further inquiries with “We do not have a release date or information on the Samsung Galaxy S2. For updates visit this link http://bit.ly/mDJfIP ^LM”.
So, while it’s possible that the smartphone will have 4G, currently it’s not looking all that good.
