The time with the highly anticipated HTC Thunderbolt for Verizon, launched just recently, was more than enough for users to start “playing” with it and it looks like someone managed to overclock the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8655 CPU to 1.8GHz.
While we think that all overclocking could be harmful for your device, 1.8GHz could definitely kill the chip inside the plastic on anything longer than a short Quadrant run — well, maybe two. As a proof of concept, the Thunderbolt clocking at 1.8GHz scored an amazing 2,772 which is definitely not that amazing knowing that the LG Optimus 3D scored 2,958 (but the dual-core TI OMAP 4 1GHz chip with PowerVR SGX540 graphics might have a strong word to say here).
