Whether the Verizon Function, Big Red’s Samsung Galaxy S II variant, featured on the mobile speed test site is true or fake is anyone’s guess but one thing’s for sure: U.S. Galaxy S II variants — Attain, Function and Within — will be landing in August, according to Shin Jong-Kyun, president of the company’s mobile communications business.
If there’s any truth behind analyst Paul Mueller words, the first carrier to offer the phone in the U.S. will be Verizon. It will “arrive at Verizon stores (Los Angeles locations here) as early as August 12″, according to reports. The analyst is not sure about the exact date but has been told “that August 12 is a possibility. It will arrive first on Verizon and then the rest of the carriers within a month. Samsung will market this directly against the iPhone 5″.
