With December 15 just hours away, Verizon has yet to announce the beginning of sales for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Tomorrow’s been favored as the rumored launch date for the phone since last week’s launch estimates were missed. Most recently, we’ve seen plenty of signs from retailers that they’ve been expecting to be able to start sales then. Will we see the Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone land tomorrow, or is an additional delay on the menu instead? The jury’s still out on that one, but in the meantime we have a new device simulator to check out, and Verizon has made a statement regarding the Galaxy Nexus release, but it’s not quite the clarification we were hoping for.

In response to all these rumors and leaks surrounding the Galaxy Nexus US launch, Verizon has confirmed that the smartphone “is still on track to launch this year”. That could be tomorrow, sometime next week, or even closer to New Year’s, but it’s at least somewhat reassuring that there aren’t any secret plans to ice the phone until 2012.

The online simulator is a far cry from having a real Galaxy Nexus in your hands, but it could be worth a little looking-through if you’re feeling anxious for the phone to arrive, especially if you haven’t had a chance to take a good look at Android 4.0 just yet. It’s not as sleek as the Microsoft WP7 sim the company recently unveiled, but it will do in a pinch.
