Verizon Lowers Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Price by 50 Percent

Not even two whole months after the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play has been available on Verizon and the carrier is already heavily discounting the phone. The price drop is due to Verizon’s back to school promo and it cuts the phone’s price tag by 50 percent.

You’ll still have to sign a two-year contract but the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will now cost only $99.99. While “back to school” with a heavy gaming smartphone might not be the best idea, the Xperia Play is also coming to AT&T, which alone could be a good reason for Verizon to cut down on its price and sell as much as it can. The phone features a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1GB of ROM, four-inch 480×854 FWVGA screen, five-megapixel camera with LED flash and autofocus plus Android 2.3 Gingerbread with Sony Ericsson’s Timescape UI.
