It was only days ago that the HTC Merge — CDMA cousin of the Vision / G2 — seemed destined for the smartphone junk bin before ever seeing the light of day. Now, in just the past week, the Android-powereed QWERTY slider was quietly launched by HTC and promised to hit multiple carriers, reappeared in Verizon’s inventory, and is now available for purchase on eBay (a single unit, that is).
The seller, who sounds like an employee of accessories maker Skinomi based on the number of times the manufacturer is referenced in the posting, claims that the device has only been used for two days and “will activate fine.”
Merge is expected to fit in VZW’s mid-range lineup, and could land on any number of other CDMA-based providers such as Cellular South or Alltel.
