After AT&T’s Samsung Captivate and T-Mobile’s Samsung Vibrant, it’s time for another carrier to embrace the Samsung Galaxy S device as US Cellular announced its device variant under the name of US Cellular Samsung Mesmerize in order to grant customers “access to the newest phones and the Samsung Mesmerize is an impressive Android-powered device for people who want to stay connected to work, entertainment and the people who matter most to them”, said Edward Perez, vice president of marketing and sales operations for U.S. Cellular.
Pretty much like the standard Galaxy S, the Captivate and the Vibrant, the Mesmerize will have the the same technical specifications, sporting a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird CPU (see more on the Hummingbird), a 4.0 inch Super AMOLED WVGA (800 x 480) display, 5MP camera with flash and HD recording capability running Android 2.1 Eclair (hopefuly upgradeable to Android 2.2 Froyo). The Samsung Mesmerize will retail for $199 after an $80 mail-in rebate and will be available starting October 27.
