Earlier today, while looking at the latest Toshiba tablet to be revealed, we lamented how disappointed we were by the news of the underpowered model, especially after seeing some innovative ideas come out of the company, like the 13.3-inch prototype tablet. When we first told you about the device, it didn’t seem like much more than a mock-up, and we weren’t sure if Toshiba would ever produce a working model. As it turns out, we’re getting the opportunity to check out a fully-functional version earlier than we ever thought possible, upon the release of a hands-on video of the giant-sized tablet.
The AT330, as this 13.3-incher is now known, is apparently powered by a quad-core Tegra 3 processor. We’re still wanting for the details on much of the tablet’s hardware specs, but we’ve heard it will have a five-megapixel main camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facer, and support full-sized SD cards. There’s also the unusual inclusion of a collapsing antenna and TV tuner, though we’re guessing there’s slim to no chance of seeing it support ATSC for the US.
Software-wise, the AT330 is running Ice Cream Sandwich, and the brief look we’ve gotten at the platform’s performance on the tablet has it seeming pretty spry. We still don’t know any details of the tablet launch plans (though that antenna has Southeast Asia looking pretty likely), nor of what Toshiba might hope to charge.
