Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X8 has passed Federal Communications Commision (FCC) and we are talking about an Android 1.6 device from the Japanese-Sweedish joint venture manufacturer.
The X8 will feature a 3 inch display and a quad-band GSM HSPA radio with WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, A-GPS and FM radio, pretty much the basics, with proximity and light sensors being featured. With Android 3.0 not so far away and most of the devices running 2.2 and/or 2.1, an Android 1.6 device might not be that attractive to the consumers so we hope it will receive an update soon – so we heard, even though it might have been released with a more recent platform version to start with.
The images are courtesy of FCC and you can also download the manual if you want to peek inside it. There’s no word on availability and pricing but given that the X10 has been launched in partnership with AT&T, the carrier could have this device too and the price tag might be around 200 EU, close to 250 USD.
