Texas Instruments went on stage to make a demo of its upcoming OMAP 5 chip used in a reference design device. The OMAP 5 will bring a CPU with two cores clocking at 800MHz as well as a dual-GPU structure.
The device running Android 4.0.1 easily handled all the work with flawless 720p video playback at 30fps (a no-brainer since the platform itself can handle 1080p video at 130 frames per second without v-sync).
Vice President and General Manager of Texas Instruments, Remi El-Ouazzane, said: “this is the greatest platform on Earth right now… way ahead of Apple, and it’s the first Cortex-A15 (which runs 2x faster than the Cortex-A9) product on the market. When running two Cortex-A15 chips at 800MHz, it’s more or less the same performance as running two Cortex-A9s at 1.5GHz. You’ll see
