We got a new look at the HTC Amaze 4G (once-Ruby) this past weekend, as it will appear when it launches on T-Mobile. Today the carrier officially announced the smartphone at its GigaOm Mobilize 2011 keynote event, assigning the handset a launch date and price. It wasn’t just the Amaze 4G in the spotlight, though, and the carrier also came forward with the same details for the Samsung Galaxy S II’s launch.

We’ve known about the Amaze/Ruby hardware for some time now, with its 1.5 GHz dual-core CPU, NFC support, and 4.3-inch qHD display. There are a few tidbits new here that help us flesh-out what we know of the handset, like that its screen will be a Super LCD, but the big news today consists of the launch details.

That’s also the case with the Galaxy S II, a phone we’re all too familiar with by now, but have been awaiting to learn the specifics of its launch. The T-Mobile variant of the handset is getting a spec-bump to 1.5GHz, as well a new large 4.52-inch Super AMOLED Plus display.

These two phones are to be launched simultaneously. You’ve first get an opportunity to pre-order either one via the carrier’s website starting on October 10. Two days later, sales will officially kick-off, and both models will become available in T-Mobile retail stores. Once you commit to your service agreements, and factor in all discounts and rebates, the Amaze 4G will cost you about $260, while the Galaxy S II will be slightly more affordable at around $230.
