Progress has been kind of slow on getting Gingerbread to T-Mobile’s myTouch 4G. Leaked ROMs have been popping up since early May, but we’re still waiting for a final version to start going out OTA. That should all change tomorrow, with distribution beginning got the MT4G’s Android 2.3.3 update.
At first, only a select group of users will be getting notifications that their updates are ready. T-Mobile looks like it will be easing itself into things, with no plans to rush the update out. More users will start getting the update in early August, but T-Mobile’s claim that this roll-out “will continue through the end of the year” has a bit worried it might be taking things just a bit too slowly.
Along with the standard Gingerbread goodies, MT4G users will be getting an updated version of Swype, along with an assortment of device-specific improvements, many of them supposedly increasing system stability and responsiveness. So, take heart MT4G owners, your update may still be a little while coming, but rest assured that it is.
