LG and T-Mobile launched the G2x — the Magenta version of the LG Optimus 2x — but the smartphone will be shipping with Android 2.2 Froyo out of the box. Luckily, T-Mobile tweeted that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update is on its way.
According to the carrier’s other tweet, Android 2.3 Gingerbread was in testing even before the smartphone was launched so this is very reassuring in terms of ironing out bugs in the early phase. The device sports a 1GHz Tegra2 processor, four-inch WVGA screen, 8GB of internal memory expandable with up to 32GB using the microSD card slot, eight-megapixel rear camera with 1080p recording capability, 1.3-megapixel front camera for self-portrait and video calling, HDMI mirroring, and a 1,500mAh battery. These specs demand Gingerbread and you won’t have to wait long for it, says T-Mobile.
