After talking with T-Mobile directly we were able get a little more information about pre-ordering the G2.
Those of you eligible for an upgrade can expect to pay $199 (plus taxes and whatnot). Those of you off-contract or who don’t qualify for an upgrade can get the phone for $499 (mine worked out to be around $540 with taxes).
All devices ordered through T-Mobile will be shipped via UPS with a text message containing your tracking information sent to your phone when the phone ships. All devices should arrive on October 6, but some may get them as early as October 4 (depending on proximity to the shipping origin and UPS hub).
Also, T-Mobile’s pre-order website isn’t working that great at the moment. They’re aware of the problems and are working on them, but in the meantime they’re suggesting that you call to pre-order.
You can split the phone’s cost into 20 payments applied to your T-Mobile bill, or in one-lump sum, also on your T-Mobile bill.
For those of you still frowning on the 800MHz processor in the G2, you will still have the typical 14-day “Buyer’s Remorse” period in which to try the device and decide if you want to keep it.
