The operator currently bundles Carrier IQ on some of these phones: HTC Amaze 4G, Samsung Galaxy S II, Samsung Exhibit 4G, T-Mobile LG myTouch, T-Mobile LG myTouch Q, LG DoublePlay, BlackBerry 9900, BlackBerry 9360 and BlackBerry 9810.
So what’s the purpose of Carrier IQ then? T-Mobile says it helps the carrier obtain specific metrics regarding signal strenght, dropped calls and other in order to determine the causes for poor battery life, dropped calls and application failures.
