Last week, a leak placed the release date of the myTouch 4G Slide on T-Mobile as July 27. That fit with what we had previously heard about a July launch, but we lacked confirmation and were a little off-put to see the source still refer to the phone as the HTC Doubleshot. Go figure; it now looks like that information was spot-on, verified thanks to a T-Mobile press release announcing the smartphone’s availability.
Sure enough, retail sales of the myTouch will begin on July 27, when you’ll be able to pick up the MT4GS on-contract for just about $200. That will buy you a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon, 3.7-inch WVGA display, sliding keyboard, and a supposedly very high-quality eight-megapixel camera. HTC is looking to eliminate shutter lag with the MT4GS, and the many software features it will offer could give some stand-alone point-and-shoots a run for their money.
If the end of the month is too far off far you, starting on July 19, the carrier will be accepting web-only pre-orders for the MT4GS.
