Last month, a leaked spreadsheet showed some estimations of when Sprint would be getting its latest smartphone models. At the time, we got some good information on BlackBerry devices. That spreadsheet has been updated since it was last leaked, and now shows some additional models on the schedule, including a slider we thought Sprint had given up on, and LG’s Optimus Black.
The Optimus Black pops up as model LS855, just as we were expecting it to. After converting the entries in the leaked spreadsheet to usable dates, it appears that its Sprint launch is anticipated for October 2. We should also be seeing the smartphone arrive on US Cellular, Alltel, and Virgin Mobile. Of special note for the smartphone is its WVGA NOVA display, which should bump out some of the brightest imagery around.
We recently saw the Samsung SPH-M930 with badging indicating a Boost Mobile launch; we had thought prior to this discovery that the QWERTY slider would find its home on Sprint. According to this roadmap, Sprint still looks committed to carrying the M930. Like the Optimus Black, this model shows plans for a October 2 debut. The M930 should have a decently-powerful 1GHz processor, but you may find its HVGA-resolution screen comes up a little short.
