Sprint has officially introduced the LG Optimus S, its version of the LG Optimus One, saying that it will be released on Sunday for $50 after $100 mail-in rebate. The Optimus S, an Android 2.2-powered handset featuring a 3.2-inch HVGA display and 600MHz processor, joins the Optimus T on the market — T-Mobile released it yesterday for $30 — while both wait for the rumored Vortex from Verizon to complete the trio.
As with the other One variants, the S — which will come in Charcoal initially before being joined by a Purple unit on the 21st — also sports 512MB of both RAM and ROM, two-flavor WiFi, FM and Bluetooth radios, along with GPS, microSD, and a 3.1-megapixel autofocus camera. All of the One models — considered to be of great importance for LG’s struggling mobile division — will have a tough holiday season going up against the T-Mobile Comet, another Froyo handset, this one from Huawei, that goes for a mere $10 on contract.
