Yesterday, we looked at a special offer Sprint had put on the table for its Premier users, giving them opportunity to get their hands on an HTC EVO 3D a couple days before the rest of us lot. While they’re not getting a huge lead time to exclusively enjoy their smartphones before Friday’s launch, those who were quick to order are getting their EVO 3Ds today, just in time for the phone’s first OTA update to arrive.
With not much time to go before launch, Sprint had to make sure it was on its toes fulfilling orders for this offer; a day or two lost in prep-time and transit could leave these Premier users no better off than the rest of us. Luckily for them, Sprint’s on top of things, and at least some customers who placed their orders have been notified already that they should be receiving the EVO 3D by this afternoon.
As those users receive their EVO 3Ds, they’ll quickly come across a notification that system software 1.13.651.7 is now available for them as an update. According to Sprint, this update addresses a problem with the smartphone’s calendar, where entering data in a certain format (Sprint does not go into detail) can cause the calendar to FC and lose the data you were editing. While the 26MB update seems a little bulky for such a patch, we’re just glad it’s getting taken care of before anyone misses an appointment.
