SPB Software is a company you definitely know from its popular products which went back to the Windows Mobile days. More recently they’ve released the 3D version of Mobile Shell and now the company has been acquired by Yandex.

Yandex is the Russian search giant — the one which replaces Bing on Windows Phones sold in Russia — which is now, in effect of the deal, “offering a key component for various mobile platforms – a user interface configured to integrate the company’s key services based on SPB best known technology – SPB Shell 3D”.

SPB Mobile Shell 3D will integrate Yandex’s cloud services and technologies as well as allow for using the search capabilities of the Russian internet company. “SPB Software will continue its mission to produce innovative mobile products of the highest quality”, said Sebastian-Justus Schmidt, CEO of SPB Software.
